Echo Retreat

A fun vacation often includes having access to water! Echo Retreat is a lovely 3 bedroom cottage located in the heart of Mount Desert Island in the village of Somesville. It's part of a private, wooded subdivision on the western side of Echo Lake (one of the most popular swimming lakes on the Island). A 3 minute walk through the woods takes you to the lake, where you can use a shared dock for swimming and boating. A few minute drive takes you to St. Sauveur Mountain or Beech Hill Mountain for a wonderful morning hike. Bar Harbor is just 15 minutes away and Southwest Harbor is just a 7 minute drive. It's a great location for a fun-filled family vacation!

The first floor features an open kitchen and dinning room, half bath, a den (with closable doors) with a sleep sofa, and a spacious living room. The dinning area opens to a large outdoor deck with a great back yard lawn. The second floor has 3 queen bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. Total sleeping capacity is 8. The basement is finished into a large rumpus room with TV and table games: ping pong and foosball. There's also a basketball court outside.

Amenities include washer/dryer, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, gas BBQ, satellite TVs (two), DVD, Wifi, local phone.

Centrally located on Mount Desert Island, Echo Retreat is just across the lake from Echo Lake Beach. Long Pond (also great for kayaking) just a few minutes away. The Acadia Park Loop Road is about 13 minutes away, as is Eagle Lake. And you can catch the free Island Explorer bus at the end of the road, about a mile away!

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park offer a multitude of activities, including whale watch tours, lighthouse tours, hiking, biking, kayaking, museum tours, gardens and of course fine dining and lobsters galore!
