All cottages provide linens, cookware, diningware, etc. Guests will need to bring personal consumable items like napkins, toilet tissue, paper towels, personal soap and shampoo. Smoking is not permitted at any cottage.
Booking a Cottage
If you would like to proceed with booking a cottage, you will need to provide to us the following information: your telephone and address, number of guests, and whether or not you are bringing a pet. A rental agreement will then be emailed to you. Deposits and rental fees may be paid with personal check or bank money. Contact us about foreign bank/money transfers. Using the Inquiry Form or sending an email is a good way to get started!
$300 refundable deposit for damage/excessive cleaning costs is required by each cottage (in some cases cottage may require $500, $400 or $200). Refundable long distance phone deposit may also apply to those cottages without a long distance phone block. Deposits are returned, in full, to renters, within 30 days of departure, provided no damage or excessive cleaning costs are deducted.
Maine State Sales/Lodging Tax
On 1/1/2016, the Maine State sales/lodging tax will increase from 8% to 9%. All rentals for 2016 will incur the new tax rate.
50% deposit of the total rental amount (rental fee + sales tax + security deposit + pet fee, where applicable) is due at the time of reservation. The balance is due 30 days prior to reservation date. Sorry, we do not accept payment with credit card. Personal check, wire transfer or money order is accepted.
Deposits and rental fees are non-refundable unless cottage can be re-rented prior to rental date (see below for information about travel insurance). While we make every effort to re-rent your rental period we cannot guarantee full refund.
For those cottages allowing pets, there is a non-refundable Pet Fee (listed with each cottage) charge for each pet. All pets must be under the care of a prescription flea preventative like Frontline or Advantage. Proof of this care, such as a store receipt or box top, is required prior to rental date. NOTE: certain breeds may not be permitted at particular cottages (i.e. Pitbulls). Please inquire.
Check-In, Check-Out Times
Each cottage has a specified check-in and check-out time (as noted in the cottage's information packet). As the time period between check-out and check-in is relatively short for the cleaning/changeover, guests are asked to adhere to these times, by not arriving prior to the check-in time and departing the cottage no later than the check-out time. Guests departing later than the check-out time will be subject to a $100/hour charge.
The rental agreements for these cottages do not provide for cancellation, unless the cottage can be re-booked for your time period (the season here is very short and owners have a narrow window to secure rentals). It is highly recommended that you consider purchasing trip/travel insurance should a personal emergency prevent you from taking your vacation.
